During the 2006/07 year Meridian embarked on a major change to our organisational structure. The main feature was the creation of a separate Retail Directorate to provide focus on improving the service we offer to our customers, and to create new products and innovations that meet their needs and deliver more value from their electricity spend. Responsibility for our retail business was formerly held within the New Zealand Operations group, which has now changed its name to Markets & Production to reflect its role in optimising our generation assets and looking after Meridians activities in wholesale electricity markets. Other Directorates were affected by the changes to a varying degree. A comprehensive consultation process was undertaken with staff and their feedback provided valuable input into the final organisational structure. The new structure (shown below) took effect on 1 July 2007.
