During the year we undertook a research project with staff (beginning around the start of 2007) to enable us to develop an Alcohol and Drug Policy and Guidelines for Meridian. The policy and guidelines have now been completed and are about to be launched.

The policy and guidelines focus on the concepts of:

• (i) building a responsible culture,
• (ii) encouraging healthy choices, and
• (iii) looking after each other.

The focus is also on helping people who may be experiencing problems, and encouraging them to let others know, so that we can help them take action and do something about it.
