Project Crimson

Project Crimson is a trust which aims to renew and protect New Zealand's native red flowering trees - the pohutukawa and rata. Meridian is very proud to be the major sponsor of Project Crimson and we look forward to assisting Project Crimson in the coming years in meeting their aim of protecting and planting pohutukawa and rata throughout New Zealand.

South Island Rowing

As well as sponsoring all regattas held at Lake Ruataniwha apart from the National Championships, Meridian has established the Rata Performance Centre in Christchurch, where aspiring gold medallists can train and learn in one of the most advanced facilities in the world.

Canterbury Rugby

Meridian has been a sponsor of Canterbury Rugby since 2000. We are particularly focused on junior rugby in the Canterbury region and supporting grass roots rugby.Meridian is also the major sponsor of the Meridian Canterbury Rugby Academy in Christchurch. The Academy offersacademic scholarships and elite training and coaching to the rising stars of Canterbury rugby.

The Wellington Wind Sculpture Trust

The Meridian Wind Sculpture Walkway along Cobham Drive in Wellington is a stunning exhibition of great New Zealand wind sculpture. Once completed, the project will have six sculptures along the walkway.

New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards

Meridian is a strong advocate for innovation in the rural sector. Smart farm management is the focus of the annual New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards, of which Meridian is a major sponsor.

Meridian Kids' Bike Jams

A great event for kids, Meridian is the major sponsor of the only national mountain biking competition for children 5-12 years old.

Meridian is a major sponsor of North Otago Rugby, which has a proud history dating back to 1927. We're putting special effort into supporting junior rugby in the North Otago region to develop future All Blacks.

North Haven Hospice

Meridian is the major sponsor of North Haven Hospice in Whangarei. Providing comfort, dignity and respect to people in their final days,the hospice is an invaluable facility for the terminally ill and their whanau in the Northland region.

Meridian Gutbuster

The Meridian Gutbuster is an 11.8km mountain run/walk held in Wellington every March. The course starts in Karori, then takes in Meridian's Brooklyn Wind Turbine before returning to Ben Burn Park for a family gala and prizegiving. Special 1km and 3km courses are also set up for children so there is something for all the family.

Oamaru Victorian Heritage Celebrations & Penny Farthing riders

Every year Oamaru returns to its historic roots where penny farthing riders mix with genteel Victorian tea partygoers. Meridian is the major sponsor of this event that celebrates heritage and the Victorian era.

Wellington Summer City

Meridian is the major sponsor of the Meridian Summer City programme in Wellington. A free programme run throughout summer for those in the region, including music, events for all ages, entertainment and concerts.

Meridian Celebrity Walk Week

Meridian sponsors this three day guided walk of the Hump Ridge Track. Trampers are joined by a selection of surprise New Zealand celebrities, and meals during the walk are catered for by some of the finest chefs in Southland.

The Katherine Mansfield Fellowship Trust

Meridian funds one New Zealand writer per year to travel to and work in Menton, France for six months. Katherine Mansfield spent some time living and writing in Menton.

Melissa Moon

Meridian supported Melissa in her endeavours to become the World Mountain Running Champion and her defence of this title. More recently, Melissa has been working closely with our staff on personal training, and she is a mentor to our budding athletes.

Warm Babies

This is a joint initiative with Community Energy Action in Christchurch. The initiative retrofits energy saving equipment (such as insulation, energy-efficient heating, curtains, hot water cylinder wraps, pipe lagging etc) into households where there are children whose health is at risk from factors such as inadequate heating, or dampness.
